Mission First, People Always

Purpose Born From Tragedy & Change …

When you meet someone who is completely on purpose and leading a heart-felt mission doing exactly what they were put on this earth to do, it’s easy to see.  Even if words are never spoken, their energy, passion and laser-focused commitment are easily recognizable.

Ironically, it is often tragedy or failure that drove them to that place of purpose. On the 17th of August, 2004, Major Pulido hit an Improvised Explosive Device (I.E.D) or roadside bomb while serving with the Coalition Military Assistance Training Team under the command of General David Petraeus.  Due to the extensive injuries to his left knee, doctors had to amputate his left leg on October 1, 2004.  What transpired from this life-changing incident would propel Major Ed from one leadership role to another.

It was during his recovery that Major Ed was forced to make a decision – to do something great or give up.  We stand in gratitude that he chose the first.  His sense of gratitude for not being left wounded on the battle field inspired him to ensure no other military families would be left behind;  hence the beginning of his journey at Folds of Honor.  Gratefully, Major Ed Pulido, U.S. Army (Ret.) is now Sr. VP of the Folds of Honor Foundation a Veteran’s charity which provides the spouses and children of the fallen and wounded educational scholarships.

Of the 1,000,000+ dependents adversely affected by military deployments, nearly 9 out of 10 do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance.  This has been Major Ed’s commitment from day one – to ensure that the dependents are able to meet their dreams.

As any good leader has a tendency to do, Major Ed found the teachable moments in his negative circumstance – others like him do the same.   Learn more about his courage and his authentic leadership principles that have brought him great success and fulfillment.  And as you sit down to your dinner table on Thanksgiving, take a moment to remember all of our service men and women and their loved ones who have sacrificed so freely so you can enjoy this great country we live in.FOH AZ
